Known as the First Mountain City, Jasper is a great bedroom community that just makes you want to stay. How many towns still close Main Street in downtown once a month for a Saturday night gathering with music, food, and activities for the whole family? Jasper is the Marble Capital of Georgia and home of the Georgia Marble Festival, Heritage Day Festival, Blue Grass Festival, championship rodeos, and the list goes on.

The Georgia Department of Economic Development officially designated Pickens as "entrepreneur friendly", meaning stategies and tools are in place to promote and facilitate creation of new businesses and growth of existing businesses. Pickens is a county committed to controlled growth and mountain conservation, purchasing thousands of acres to protect the environment plus to provide parks and nature trails.

Field and Barn

Pickens County provides a great education for the the kids with both public and private schools. Also located in the town of Jasper is Appalachian Technical College and a short drive to Reinhart College. From the tomatoes and squash contest at the weekend farmers market to the Talking Rock arena hosting championship rodeos and MX racing/school, the friendly town of Jasper is at the foot of the Appalachian Mountains but still not too far away from Atlanta.
